Position Summary:
The Surgical Technician plays a critical role in supporting surgical and cosmetic procedures by preparing the surgical environment, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, and maintaining a sterile field throughout each procedure. This position works closely with physicians to assist in various surgeries and patient care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform effectively in this role, the candidate must fulfill the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Assist physicians with biopsies, surgical procedures, and cosmetic treatments.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and a sterile environment at all times.
- Prepare surgical rooms and sterilize instruments and equipment prior to procedures.
- Provide pre-operative support by addressing patients’ frequent questions and concerns.
- Deliver post-operative wound care and education to patients.
- Perform scribing duties as needed.
- Remove sutures as directed.
- Process pathology and laboratory documentation accurately.
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, rooms, and equipment after each procedure.
- Maintain inventory and stock clinical rooms appropriately.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical setting performing surgical procedures; dermatology experience preferred.
- Certifications & Licenses: Certified Surgical Technician certification required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internal clinical software systems.
- Additional Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
